Montana Wild Resort is a RV and Park Model development at stunning Lake Koocanusa, Montana. Activities abound for the recreational and outdoor enthusiast as Montana Wild Resort, aside from being located on this incredible lake, is surrounded by thousands of acres of untouched U.S. Forest Service lands.
Lake Koocanusa is a pristine body of water that stretches over 150km long. The lake is well suited to boating, kayaking, sailing, water skiing, swimming, and wakeboarding, with a boat launch located right below the resort. There is also a small beach area, and with water temperatures in the summer reaching the mid 80s it's a beautiful spot to spend the day. |
The McGillivray campground is a short drive down the road. It has another boat launch, fantastic day-use facilities, and a great swimming area for smaller children. By the Libby dam, there is another day-use area with swim platforms, a playground, and frisbee golf course.
Known for its excellent fishing, Lake Koocanusa is truly a fisherman’s paradise boasting a wide range of trout species including Rainbow, Bull, Dolly Varden, and West Slope Cutthroat, along with Mountain Whitefish, Yellow Perch, Northern Pike and Kootney Salmon. An annual fishing derby is held in the area each May with hundreds of participants. As well, the Kootenai River (10 miles away) boasts some of the best "blue ribbon" fly-fishing in North America.
Float or canoe down the river, or enjoy day trips and hiking trails throughout the area. Mountain biking, camping, rock climbing, and ATVing are all available literally outside your doorstep. Additionally, the city of Libby has an excellent golf course, restaurants, and associated services only a half hour away.
In the winter, the area offers exceptional backcountry snowmobiling and skiing. Also check out the nearby Turner Mountain - a local skihill.
